Many signs are built around a rigid substrate that forms the backing or support of the finished product. At Glantz, we offer a wide range of sign blanks, backings, and substrates that can be used for any project.

Aluminum Composite Panels (ACP) are formed by layering and bonding a non-aluminum core, typically polyethylene, between two thin flat aluminum sheets. This method delivers a perfectly smooth yet rigid surface designed to prevent deforming, bowing, warping, swelling, and delamination. They are ideal for paint, inks, vinyl lettering, and more, and are a wonderful choice for general signage, including billboards, real estate signs, and highway signs.

High Density Urethane (HDU) are an eco-friendly alternative to wood that can be routed, carved, and sandblasted. HDU is tough, lightweight, and completely waterproof, which allows for nearly any type of finish. HDU signs and sign components are great both inside and outside, and are insect and moisture resistant, resistant to cracking, warping, decay, and rot.

Foam Board substrates are an economical choice for short to medium term signs. Extremely lightweight, we carry foam boards layered in various configurations, from laminated foam boards to boards faced on both sides with a smooth, moisture-resistant wood fiber veneer. Excellent for indoor use, foam board is a versatile choice for P-O-P Displays, framing, and signage.

Medium Density Overlay (MDO) Panels are paintable panels made from plywood with a weather-resistant resin overlay which has been bonded to the wood. The resin overlay resists weather, water, and general wear, making this an excellent base for painting and high-quality enamels. MDO boards are a great choice for exterior signage and billboards, displays, fixtures, shelving, partitions, sports sideboards, and more.

In addition to these rigid substrates, we also cary sign blanks made from aluminum, corrugated plastic boards, aluminum sheets, laminated sheets, magnetic rolls, styrene, posterboard, and a large line of accessories, solvents, resins, and substrate mounting products. Contact us today — we can help answer any questions about which substrate would be the best for your sign or display project.
